Preparing young people with skills for life

We're Scouts and everyone is welcome here. Every week, we help almost half a million people aged 4-25 develop skills for life. Are you ready to join the adventure?

Welcome to 3rd Itchen Scout Group

Based in Bitterne, Southampton, we’re home to over 100 young people who enjoy the fun, friendship, and adventure that Scouting brings.

We run a full range of sections — Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Explorers (Shackleton ESU) — along with exciting activities like rifle and crossbow shooting through our Shackleton Rifle Club.

Our brilliant team of volunteers and young leaders are passionate about creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive space where every young person can thrive, learn new skills, and enjoy being part of something bigger.

We also have a modern, purpose-built hall available for hire — perfect for local groups, events, and activities.

Whether you’re looking to join the adventure or get involved as a volunteer, there’s a place for you at 3rd Itchen.

So, what do Scouts do?

Scouts are do-ers and give-it-a-go-ers. Yes, we go camping, hiking, swimming, abseiling, cycling and canoeing.

But, we also get to hang out with our friends every week – having fun, playing games, working in a team and taking on new challenges.

Every week we give almost half a million 4-25 year olds the skills they need for school, college, university, the job interview, the important speech, the tricky challenge and the big dreams: the skills they need for life.

Everyone’s welcome here. All genders, races and backgrounds. Regardless of your young person’s physical ability – there’s a Scout adventure out there waiting for them. And we’ll help them find it.
